"Sael" gets a tail, a mane, a male gender, ....and a base:

Well it happened.  lol  I had to wind up giving "Sael" the rearing Totilas drastic cm a base attachment for him to stand. The Breyer Silver model still baffles me.  How in the name of pete did they get that horse to stand?!  At any rate, "Sael" now has his rump reshaped, his gender in place, a mane and tail. He's got an opened mouth but it wont be very open at all.  Just slightly to give his lips the appearance of being seperate. He'll have that pouty lippy stallion type expression. The old tail with the weight attached to it I discarded and now sculpted a new one.  I have too much still on it and will be shaving that bottom piece off after the new stuff dries. The base is small but was(sigh)...necessary. I'm puttin him and his small sculpted base on a wooden stained oval or circle base also but he wont be attached to that.   He'll be going up in MH$P for offers when he's finished.  For now I have some more sculpting to do on the left front leg, the tail, the mane, and I may sand off that existing forelock and resculpt it.  I'm not sure if I'm totally content to leave the forelock like that. I've still got a lot more sculpting and sanding to do yet.

Another day another update:

"Sael" is doing a lot better.  I'm still having trouble getting him to balance to stand without a base.  Putting in a base will be a last resort but I may just locate some plastic acrylic and cut it to conncet the hind feet to the tail end.  Until then though there's still hope.  I added a lead finshing sinker to the inside of the body at the rump and also one in the tail to weight him.  I'll hide it in the tail hair.  He's standing on his own right now for the pictures but that's because the fresh apoxie on his tail is stuck to the wood and so he's not moving right now.   I sanded the top half down and sculpted the hind half more now. One side still looks the best so I'll shave and sand down the other side to match the best side.

New "Sael" Totilas CM moving along after some major resculpting and other updates:

The Totilas CM whom I've named "Sael" is coming into his own little by little.  It's not an overnight process but it's moving along.  I new I was going to have to do something to those hind legs.  Well, after bending and unbending the hocks, I saw what was really the problem for now.  The rear wasn't up high enough.  I am praying I can get this guy to stand on his own with just the weight and leverage of his tail touching the ground to help so I wont have to make a base for him. After sculpting all that muscle to the rump, I had to hack it all off again and this time slide the hind legs back at the knees and pull him up to a standing up position.  I gave hi a new neck that will have to be dry shaped with sanding and buffing and possibly more apoxie.  He's got a chest now and most of his shoulders. I've got a lot more to tweak and resculpt.  But he's gone from one thing to another pretty quickly so I'm happy so far.  He's going to be a black bay stallion. Very black. Almost solid black with just a slight indication of reddish brown in the under-most areas.  I'm trying to decide on facial markings in my head now. But I've got a lot more to do.  I'm just working from the top down to the bottom. I'll start on the lower half later today when he's dried.

The walking cow has been getting some updates recently.  Thought I'd take pictures of her recent changes.  She's got udders sculpted and teats which have to be sanded and shaped.  She's had an ear reduction along with a new one sculpted. Her tail has more hair now and so does her forehead.

The American Saddlebred has been primed and is ready for paint.

I thought it would be kinda neat to take a picture of the TWH twin I did along with the Saddlebred model together because it shows just how different the two really are to be coming from the same Breyer model.  I put just as much work into changing the Breyer American Saddlebred model into a CM Saddlebred as I did turning it from a American Saddlebred OF to a Tennessee Walking Horse.

Totilas CM and Saddlebred Updates:

I've got more sculpting done to "Prom King" the saddlebred, and "Sael" (pronounced Sail) the brand new Totilas creation, I'm going to try and tweak Sael's back legs and see if they'd look better bent a little at the knee or if not put them back. I've got rearing horse references in all different ways.  Some are more squatting with thehind legs bend some and some are in that Peter Stone stretching rear positon.  Peter Stone, Bless em, you know they have one of the most beautiful arabians around but I don't know what they wewre thinking when they made the rearing horse.  They can't even give those things away either.  they need to make an all new rearing model.  I know what they were trying to do with that pose but they missed it. Completely.  
But good news.  If you ever wanna make a cm of a horse hanging by his hind foot, just turn it upside down.

I'm at that phase where I build it up, look at the wrong parts, sand it back down, then rebuild it back up til it looks right. I did go back after i took these shots and bent his front leg more.

New Totilas Creation and more Progress CMs:

Here it is.. lol  Yeah, pretty scary.  But TRUST ME OK.  lol

My camera when the batteries are almost drained starts having seizures. Anyway, he's cut up and torn apart.  Like I said.  Trust me ok.    I can fix this. No problem.  In the words of Tanked star Brett,  "I have a vision".

Also let's see the Saddlebred now. As I said, I pulled his legs back stretched more. I've picked a name for him too.  "Prom King".

OH JustinTime has color now:

My portrait model of OH Justin Time is moving right along.  I was working on him last night and he's got his paint markings on now.  He's still got a ways to go yet.  The THW has now got a face and the saddlebred now has a neck but my light bulb blew in my lamp and I need to put a new bulb in, so I'll have new pictures of them tonight.

New APH Stallion Portrait Model and more updates:

I decided I wasn't happy with the way the Adios model was turning out into that appaloosa.  I originally wanted to make him into a paint horse anyway, but i came across the perfect cadidate for his model now.  A Paint horse by the name of "OH Justin Time"  He's a silver Grulla overo APH stallion.  He's the model and below is a portrait of the real Justin.  I've just started adding the white markings so I will continue this one later tonight.

Next, I've been coming along on the other TWH twin I was working on.

I got the saddlebred a new neck coming along.  I'm thinking about pulling the hind legs back a bit for a more exaggerated parked out pose.  Similar to the TWH's.

Last but not least I've got the Standardbred pacer Stablemate primed and ready for final touches before painting. He's going to have little acrylic leg posts so he can stand.  I need to do that next.
